ABOUT ME

jesse_headshot_8_2024.jpg

I began my MSW studies in Washington, D.C., in 1993 and have dedicated my career ever since to supporting children and families. Early internships at the White House and the Child Welfare League of America gave me a national perspective on child welfare, while clinical training at the Veterans Hospital’s 28-day inpatient substance abuse program deepened my understanding of the impact of addiction on families.

After earning my MSW in 1995 and becoming a California LCSW in 2001, I spent many years providing therapeutic support to children with special needs in foster and adoptive families. I worked in bilingual, multicultural, and LGBTQ-affirming agencies; developed foster adoption programs across Northern and Southern California; and served as Clinical Director of a child welfare agency. I have also led parent trainings and supported families affected by the Santa Rosa fires. In 2024, I completed my Doctor of Social Work degree at the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy & Practice, and I now serve on the Social Work faculty at Samuel Merritt University in Oakland.

Equally important, I am a mom of three. I love hiking, running, biking, cross-country skiing, and spending time outdoors with my family and our dog.
